Psychodrama in Individual Therapy: An October Virtual Training
Join us for an interactive virtual training focused on bringing psychodramatic action methods into individual therapy sessions. While psychodrama is often associated with group work, its techniques can be powerfully adapted for one-on-one therapy, helping clients move beyond insight and into embodied exploration, emotional expression, and meaningful change.
Drawing on psychodrama, sociometry, and role theory, participants will begin the day with experiential sociometric warm-ups designed to foster connection, spontaneity, and group cohesion in the virtual space. Through demonstration, discussion, and guided practice, attendees will learn how to effectively utilize psychodramatic techniques such as doubling, role reversal, concretization, empty chair work, and interviewing within individual therapy sessions conducted in person or via telehealth.
This training emphasizes practical application. Participants will observe live demonstrations, engage in structured skill practice, and receive supportive feedback in small groups. Special attention will be given to adapting action methods for virtual settings, maintaining clinical attunement, and creating safe, contained experiences for clients while working online.
Whether you are new to psychodrama or looking to expand your clinical toolbox, this training offers a supportive and engaging opportunity to develop confidence in using psychodramatic methods in individual therapy. Leave with practical skills, increased spontaneity, and techniques you can immediately integrate into your clinical practice.
What to Expect
This highly interactive day will include:
Warm-up activities that build connection and prepare the group to spring into action.
Opportunities to engage in personal reflection and professional skill-building within a supportive group.
Time for integration, discussion, and connection with fellow participants.
Opportunities to practice skills and receive valuable guidance and feedback from the trainer.
Who Should Attend
This training is ideal for mental health professionals, drama therapists, educators, social workers, coaches, lawyers, nurses, physicians, and allied health professionals, managers, team leaders, and HR professionals and anyone interested in incorporating psychodramatic methods into their work. No prior experience in psychodrama and/or acting is necessary, just a willingness to learn and participate. This training is designed to introduce new students to psychodrama while also advancing the skills of those with prior training.
Psychodrama has been used all over the world in many different clinical settings and has helped in the treatment of mood disorders, eating disorders, substance abuse, trauma, chronic mental illness, and relational issues.
